As the regular season winds down, we get closer to the All Star season. Tonka Babe Ruth will have three All Star teams (13 year olds, 14 year olds and 15 year olds) that will participate in the National Babe Ruth tournament. The levels of play include a District tournament, a State tournament, a Regional tournament and the World Series. Teams must win each tournament to advance to the next tournament.
There will be All Star team tryouts conducted June 30 through July 2 for all three teams. The players invited to these tryouts will be posted on the website Wednesday, June 25. For the 13 year olds, the tryout squad will consist of players from the Warriors team and from the 13AAA Tournament team. For 14 and 15 year olds, it works a bit differently. The 14 and 15 year olds from the Majors will vote for All Stars the weekend of 6/21 and 6/22 and then the All Star coach will add additional players to make a tryout squad of 22 players.
The final All Star team rosters will be posted on the website Monday, July 7. Most, if not all, teams will practice the night of the July 7 so make sure you check the final rosters that morning.
The managers for each All Star team have been chosen and been approved by the board. They are Chris Fasnacht for 13 year olds, Greg Smith for 14 year olds and John Flood for 15 year olds.

The City of Chanhassen is sponsoring their 25th Anniversary Carnival at Lake Ann Park on July 4, 2008. They are looking for Tonka Babe Ruth to help staff the event from 4:00 to 9:00 PM running a variety of games and activities. In exchange for TBR's help, the City of Chanhassen will make a donation to Tonka Babe Ruth's fundraising efforts.
TBR has free use of Chanhassen fields for games and practices for our spring and fall leagues and on occasion our Buddy Ball teams have used a field. This is TBR's opportunity to show our gratitude toward the city and creates and opportunity to bring in additional revenue for the league. In these poor economic times TBR can use the added revenue as the need for scholarships has increased this year.
